Welcome to Mary Honeywell Elementary School!
At MHES we thank the Algonquin Anishinaabe People, and respectfully acknowledge that our learning, playing, and growing takes place on their unceded, and unsurrendered territory, and we recognize their enduring presence on this land.
It's an honor to continue my journey of learning with you as principal of MHES for the 2025-26 school year. I've spent 35 years in education as a teacher, coach, and administrator, and I've learned that strong relationships are key to a great learning environment. This year, I hope we can work together to build a strong community where every student feels safe and included. My goal is to empower students to take risks in their learning and gain the skills they need to become independent, lifelong learners.
MHES is a dual track K-6 site. Our programs include English, Early French Immersion (EFI) & Autism. All together our student population is approximately 480 students. We are incredibly proud of the diverse backgrounds and experiences our students and staff have to offer one another. Our MHES staff is comprised of a principal, vice-principal, teachers, EAs, ECEs, a Library Technician, Office Administrator, Office Assistant, & Custodial staff. Together with dedicated community volunteers & OCDSB support staff we seek to provide a safe, nurturing and supportive learning environment for all students.
We believe that our strength at MHES comes from the diverse experiences of our students and staff. We are a community that values and celebrates each person's unique story. We encourage students to get involved in our school by sharing their voices and participating in events, clubs, and sports. These activities are a great way to build connections and support everyone's social and emotional well-being.
We have an active School Council who partners with MHES to support student initiatives and implementation of learning opportunities and community connections. Please join us on the 2nd Tuesday of the month where you can learn more about lunch programs, community events & fundraisers to support student learning. We value the diversity of our community voices and perspectives and look forward to hearing from you.
At MHES, our goal is to ensure every student feels safe, included, and respected so they can achieve their best and thrive. We are here to guide each child on their unique learning journey.
We know that no two paths are the same. Our staff is dedicated to supporting each student's growth and personal goals through collaborative and innovative learning. We want to give them daily opportunities to work with others, think critically about the world, and expand their minds.
At Mary Honeywell staff, students, families, professionals and community members work together to support students and their families in their learning journey. We welcome your questions and partnerships as we journey through learning during 2025-26.
On behalf of the MHES staff, I can say that we are eager and excited to work with you to support your child’s learning and well-being!
Sincerely, your partner in your child’s education,
Wanda Mills-Boone
