Another week has flown by! Students and staff are settling in nicely to routines. We apologize as our Week in Review may be a bit long however the beginning of each school year brings about lots of communication!

1. A gentle reminder to ensure your child has indoor non-marking running shoes to help reduce dirt and sand in classrooms, portables and the gym. Thanks for your cooperation.

2. If you have not already done so, please complete the Media Permission form and the Use of Technology Consent forms using these links. If you are unable to complete them electronically, they can also be found on the OCDSB's website under "Policies and Procedures".  Paper copies are available in the office if needed.

For those parents picking up children, please meet us in the backyard. Students can approach Mr. Westwood, Mme Bello or Mr. Gasper for more information.

When you are coming to pick up your child (ren), please make sure that you sign them out in the main office and similarly, sign them in when you are bringing them to school at a time other than the start of day. If you are signing them out early please call ahead when possible so we can have them ready (this is very important if it is during our recesses and will minimize delays).

7Student Accident Insurance-Creating a caring and safe environment for our students is our top priority. Unfortunately, despite all reasonable precautions being taken, accidents can still happen. Some injuries may result in medical, dental or other expenses that are not covered by provincial health care or employer group plans. As a parent/guardian, you become responsible for these expenses. Student accident insurance is available for purchase, on a voluntary basis, through Reliable Life Insurance Company. Parents may apply online at, Forms may be downloaded at or hard copies may be picked up from the school office. The OCDSB encourages all parents/guardians to consider purchasing this insurance. If your child is involved in school related sports activities or is participating in any field trips out of the province you may wish to seriously consider the coverage options, which range from $13.00/year to $33.00/year. This coverage is for the entire calendar year and also applies outside of school hours.  If you have any questions, please call Binks Insurance Brokers directly at 613-226-1350.

8The first School Council meeting was last night and congratulations to our new School Council as follows: Chair-Robert Crampton; Vice Chair-Julia MacEwen; Secretary-Sarah Misseri; and Treasurer-Martin Nieves.
